Who Are We?
In mid-winter of 2005 four women met at Jones in Center City. We had each made a decision to try and meet other people who were as committed and impassioned about food as we were. Taking the unprecedented step of (for us) going out on the internet and joining an on-line meet ups group focused on food, we found love at first sight.
Though our initial anxieties may have been different... "How do I get there?" "Will I be able to find parking?" "Will Jones disappoint?" "Will these other people be lunatics that make me regret I ever did this?" ... our final conclusion was unanimous. Let's do this again. Soon!
Maybe it was the food talk. Or all the bonding around champagne. Whatever captured us then has made every get together a great time. And our little ranks have swelled from the initial 4 (Renee, Donna, Tinamarie and Kathy) to 7 regular attendees and quite a few happy, well-stuffed groupies who join us whenever possible.
Though we started by meeting at restaurants during the week, we soon enjoyed (and trusted) each other enough to make the leap--giving up weekend time and meeting in our own homes. These days, we meet about once a month for anything from a themed event (The Scarlet Feast) to simple brunch day.
